Murex pecten Lightfoot,1786 Venus Comb Murex Shell large, sub-fusiform, with a tall, acute spire, 7 to 8 convex spire whorls, deeply impressed sutures, a large, fusoid body whorl and a long straight, almost closed siphonal canal; sculptured with 3 varices per whorl, and encircled with strong cords which form long curved spines, strongest on the shoulder and diminishing in size anteriorly; secondary and tertiary spinelets oriented at right angles to the primary spines are seen along the canal; aperture ovate, outer lip erect and strongly dentate; color pale ochre or white, aperture white.
